Sixth formers at John Cleveland College were given a masterclass in CV writing and interview techniques thanks to the support of Hinckley & Rugby Building Society.
The Society sponsored a visit from WizeUp, a not-for-profit group of financial education experts, who help school pupils prepare for their life beyond lessons.
The experts from WizeUp worked with dozens of pupils at John Cleveland College, and may return again as the seminar was over-subscribed.
Hinckley & Rugby Building Society chief executive Chris White said: “It was great to see the enthusaism of the young people for learning. The support they got from the professionals will help them on their way.
“Having had such a popular and successful event we hope to do more work with John Cleveland College in the future. And we are planning to run the seminar again at the Dorothy Goodman School in Hinckley later this year.”
WizeUp’s Ed Flack said: “It was a fantastic series of seminars, the young people were brilliant and seemed to really got a lot out of it. They were really engaged – taking notes and asking questions.
“Huge thanks to the Hinckley & Rugby, without whose support we couldn’t have done it. They should take a lot of credit for recognising the value of these sessions to all students, university candidates and those who will be going directly to the workplace.”
Karen Greenwood, assistant head of post-16 at John Cleveland College, said:“Students really get something out of these sessions as the speakers have credibility as real business people who work in the real world. The feedback from students has been very positive, they have come away with some good ideas for the next stage of their careers.”
