Leicestershire men’s cancer charity PROSTaid is to benefit from a show being produced by local entertainer Michael George in Hinckley on Saturday April 1.
The Michael George Charity Show is at the town’s Greene King Stadium with all proceeds going to the prostate cancer charity which was set up in Leicestershire in 2006. Hinckley & Rugby Building Society is one of the sponsors of the event, donating £250 towards the costs of the concert so the charity can receive as much money as possible.
Barwell born singer Michael George will be accompanied by his eight-piece band. Also appearing are the Irish comedian Dusty Young, six dancing showgirls and the special guest singer Lisa Jane Kelsey.
Stuart Berry, a trustee and co-founder of PROSTaid, said:
“We are most grateful to Michael, all the artists and musicians, the Greene King Stadium and for the support of all the sponsors of the show. Michael puts on a great show so we hope the public shows its support.”
PROSTaid helps and cares for local men with prostate cancer. Money raised for the charity helps fund prostate cancer nurse specialists and new treatments, including buying the latest radiotherapy equipment for local hospitals, and running support groups for men. For support and advice, the PROSTaid Helpline is 0844 800 7801.
The charity’s education programme raises awareness amongst local men and health professionals so cancer is spotted early and can be better treated. Since 2006 more than £1.5 million has been raised for the charity.
Stuart, from Barlestone, said: “The funds raised will help to improve the treatment and care of local men living with prostate cancer. It is fantastic to have the Hinckley & Rugby’s backing. Over many years the Society has supported the charity on several occasions.
“The support of local businesses and the public is really important to us. It’s why we are able to achieve what we do and deliver all the help we can.”
Michael George’s previous charity shows in Hinckley have been sell-outs, raising money for charities including Hope Against Cancer. Tickets for the evening event cost £20 and include a buffet and a disco. They can be requested by phone or text to 07864 913091.
Stewart Heeley, Hinckley & Rugby’s marketing & PR manager, said:
“PROSTaid is a great local charity providing a vital service for the many local men diagnosed and treated for prostate cancer each year. We’re very much looking forward to the show.”
