SOCIETY CLIMBER JAKE TACKLES THE THREE PEAKS
A Lutterworth Grammar School student has taken part in the Three Peaks Challenge thanks to the support of Hinckley and Rugby Building Society.
The Society purchased a pair of trekking boots to assist 16-year-old Jake Flint in his challenge to cover 26 miles and climb to the peaks of Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in Yorkshire in quick succession.
Taking a break from his 11 GCSE exams Jake took part in the event as part of a larger team, including his father Jonathon, to raise money for Rainbows East Midlands children’s hospice.
During a weekend of heavy rainfall, Jake completed the somewhat muddy walk in 10 hours and 50 seconds.
Planning on a career in sports one day, Jake said: “It was a long walk but my feet stayed dry and blister free thanks to the new boots.
“Together the team raised around £1,000 for Rainbows and I’m really grateful to Hinckley and Rugby Building Society for its support.”
Society PR Officer Lisajane Gooden commented: “As a local community-based Society, Hinckley and Rugby is delighted to be able to support Jake and wishes him every success in his exams and continued charity fundraising.”
