RAVI PREPARES FOR THE TRIP OF A LIFE-TIME
A RUGBY teenager busy raising funds to help him pay for the trip of a lifetime has received a boost from Hinckley and Rugby Building Society.
Ravi Mistry, aged 18, who attends Lawrence Sheriff School in Rugby, is joining an expedition to Northern Chile in July and needs to raise around £3,500 to fund the trip.
“I will be spending four weeks on the expedition. Some time will be spent simply acclimatising, then I will be trekking, getting involved in charity work and, of course, there will be a little time for rest and relaxation,” explained Ravi, who is studying A2 levels in biology, chemistry and physics.
“I need to raise money to pay for the equipment I need but I also have to ensure that I’m fit before I leave here and that I get involved with the fundraising with the rest of the team joining the expedition.
“I am looking forward to the experience as I will get the chance to explore new cultures and perspectives.”
Ravi will be one of 13 people on the expedition. He will undertake voluntary work helping children at school, working with older people or supporting environmental projects. He may also get involved with conservation issues with park rangers in the Yerba Loca National Park, which is located at 2,000 metres in the Andes mountains close to Santiago.
Hinckley and Rugby Building Society has helped Ravi make a start getting his equipment together by providing him with a rucksack.
“We were pleased to be able to help Ravi,” explained Stewart Heeley, Marketing and PR Manager at the Hinckley and Rugby, which has 11 branches in Leicestershire and Warwickshire including an office in North Street, Rugby.
“We like to be involved with the communities we serve and this provides us with the opportunity to support a teenager who has the drive to go out to explore other countries and get involved in charity work.”
