CARNIVAL EFFORTS KICKSTARTED BY SOCIETY

Organisers of Hinckley Carnival have received a welcome cash injection from Hinckley and Rugby Building Society to kickstart this year’s marathon fundraising effort.

Donating £50 to get the ball rolling, staff at the Society’s branch in Castle Street opened a deposit account on behalf of the newly-installed Carnival committee to enable the local community to pop in and make a donation over the counter.

Receiving the passbook, the new Chairman of Hinckley Carnival Committee Neil Turvey said: “Every penny counts - we are relying on the residents and businesses of Hinckley to come forward and support their Carnival.

“With a brand new committee in place, 2008 sees a fresh start for Hinckley Carnival and we wanted to kick things off by opening a new account at Hinckley’s very own building society.

“With plans underway for what we hope will be a truly memorable day, the committee is extremely grateful to Hinckley and Rugby for its donation and support.”

Castle Street Office Manager Marlene Jenkins said: “The Society is delighted to support the Carnival committee and we are all looking forward to what promises to be a good old-fashioned traditional family outing.”

Anyone wishing to donate to the Carnival can do so at any of the Society’s 11 branches across Leicestershire and Warwickshire.
