NEW SAVINGS ACCOUNT AIMS TO BOOST HOSPICE FUNDS

Hospices in Leicestershire and Warwickshire are set to receive a cash windfall from a brand new savings account launched by Hinckley and Rugby Building Society.

The Society launched the Hospice Affinity Savings Account at the start of March to benefit the hospice movement across the two Counties.

Three hospices – LOROS, Leicestershire and Rutland Hospice, Myton Hospice which cares for patients in Warwickshire and Mary Ann Evans Hospice, in Nuneaton, will all benefit equally from the new account.

Each year on 1 December the Society will donate an amount equal to 1% of the average balances held in the account over the previous year, to the three hospices.

For instance, for every customer who saves £500 and keeps the money in the account for a 12-month period without making any withdrawals, the Society will donate £5 to the hospices.

The new account pays an attractive variable rate of interest to investors of 4.00% gross/AER.

Offering easy access to savings, with a minimum investment of £500 and a maximum investment of £300,000, the account further builds on the strong relationship the Society already enjoys with the three local hospices.

Diane Morris, Fundraising Manager for LOROS, said: “We, like every other hospice in the country, face a massive challenge every year to raise the funds we need to provide support to the terminally ill and their relatives.

“We were delighted to be approached by Hinckley and Rugby as a beneficiary of this new account, which is a new and innovative way to raise money towards our work in the local community.”

Hinckley and Rugby Marketing Manager Stewart Heeley added: “The Society is proud of its links with the local hospices and believes launching an affinity account is an excellent way of reinforcing its support.

“We hope that existing members of the Society, as well as new customers, will consider opening an affinity account as a way of not only earning an attractive rate of interest on their savings but also benefiting a very worthy cause.”
