CLEVER BOXING BY MUSIC GROUP
A musical group from Nuneaton has realised its aim to purchase a Shelterbox, thanks to the support of Hinckley and Rugby Building Society.
The Society helped to sponsor the box, which contains specially selected items to assist victims of disaster around the world, for the musical fundraising group based at Nuneaton Golf Club.
Having organised several successful events, the group opened an account with the Society to deposit money raised for the Shelterbox Trust. Keen to support its customers, the Society made a donation into the account to help them reach their target.
Designed to help an extended family survive for at least six months in a time of adversity, each Shelterbox is made from rugged plastic and contains essential equipment including a ten person tent and multi fuel stove.
Uniquely numbered, the box can be traced on its journey overseas through the Shelterbox website www.shelterbox.org.
Speaking at the presentation of the Shelterbox Brian Merry from the music group said: "Initially the plan was to purchase just one Shelterbox.
“Now with the support of the building society we are well on our way to purchasing another Shelterbox for the Trust.”
Hinckley and Rugby PR Officer Lisajane Gooden said: “As a local community-based Society, Hinckley and Rugby is delighted to be able to support Brian and the music group and wishes them continued success in their musical fundraising.”
The Shelterbox Trust is a registered UK charity operated by the Rotary Club of Helston-Lizard, Cornwall. Relying solely on public donations the Trust provides humanitarian aid worldwide in the form of shelter, warmth and comfort to those displaced by natural and other disaster.
