Financial education experts from the not-for-profit WizeUp were at the school working with Year 8 on their Business Day. Hinckley & Rugby Building Society regularly sponsors WizeUp’s visits to schools and colleges in its heartlands.

The whole year group of 120 pupils aged 12 and 13 explored the history of money and the skills and knowledge they will need in life and work to manage finances.

WizeUp’s Ed Flack said: “We were delighted to be invited back to Lawrence Sheriff. We thoroughly enjoyed the sessions and, if the number of questions is anything to go by, the students enjoyed taking part as well. They were enthusiastic, imaginative and knowledgeable.

“As always, our sincere thanks go to our sponsors at HRBS who are now in their fourth year supporting our sessions at local schools.”

Laura Kisby, the school’s head of careers, enterprise & work experience, said:

“It was good to welcome Ed Flack from WizeUp again to take our students on from their previous financial knowledge and experience. They took away very valuable information that will be useful in future and they had fun in the process.”

Hinckley & Rugby’s Lee Banks-Moore, who manages the Society’s Rugby branch, joined in the sessions. Lee said: “We are very pleased to support WizeUp’s work helping pupils get to grips with money. It’s important that the next generation of savers and borrowers get a sound education in managing their finances.”
