Hinckley & Rugby Savers give £21,000 to hospices

Three local hospices have shared more than £21,000 thanks to savers at Hinckley & Rugby Building Society who chose to put their money into its Hospice Affinity Account.

Society staff celebrate their donation of £7,250 to each of the three local hospices

Hinckley & Rugby’s Colin Fyfe, John Knight of LOROS, Mary Evans Hospice’s Liz Hancock, Myton’s Chris Willmott and Abi Johnson of Hinckley & Rugby

Since its launch in 2008 the account has now paid out a total of more than £145,000 to LOROS in Leicestershire and Mary Ann Evans Hospice and The Myton Hospices in Warwickshire. All three hospices serve families in Hinckley & Rugby’s heartlands.

The total donation of £21,750 is equivalent to one per cent of the average balances held in the Affinity Account in the past year.

Chris Willmott, corporate fundraiser at The Myton Hospices, said:

“We are overwhelmed by the generosity and support of Hinckley & Rugby Building Society and its amazing customers, who support Myton every year with such a significant contribution.

“Here at Myton, we believe everyone matters for every single moment of their lives and fabulous support such as this enables us to do all we can to play a part in that. not just for our patients but for their families and loved ones too. A huge thank you.”

Liz Hancock, chief executive at the Mary Ann Evans Hospice, said: “The ongoing support we receive from Hinckley & Rugby Building Society is fantastic and not only helps us financially but also raises the profile of local hospices. Thank you for helping us to make a difference to the lives of our patients and their families.”

John Knight, chief executive at LOROS, said: “It was really good to meet Colin Fyfe of Hinckley & Rugby and other members of his team to personally thank them and their customers for another year of generous support. The donation will go directly towards patient care. We are even more grateful for the consistency of their support year on year.”

Stewart Heeley, Hinckley & Rugby’s marketing & PR manager, said:

“Our savers choose this account knowing they could get more interest in other accounts, but knowing too that they are selflessly supporting three priceless institutions that help so many local people.”
