Hinckley & Rugby Building Society has put a local artist’s work centre stage in its window as part of Rugby Festival of Culture’s Art Trail.
Artist Janet Watson’s painting Scarlet Hawthorn is in the window of the North Street branch for the duration of the Festival of Culture until July 14.
It is one of 26 Art Trail locations in the town, which include galleries, shops, cafes and more, where art lovers can find paintings, jewellery, textiles and ceramics on display.
It’s the third year Hinckley & Rugby has provided a showcase for a local artist and this year welcomes back Janet, who was also part of the Art Trail in 2018. Her Scarlet Hawthorn painting, in acrylic and mixed media, is part of her Spinning Flower Tree Collection.
“Having my art in such a prominent place in Rugby is a great showcase. I love that it’s in a nice big window.”
Hinckley & Rugby chief executive Colin Fyfe said:
“Not everyone can afford to have a shop on a high street to showcase their work, so it’s great we can help Janet with a pop-up space during the Festival of Culture.”
The Rugby Festival of Culture is on for three weeks. Details of all the events and exhibitions is at: therugbytown.co.uk/festivalofculture
