Society is Leicestershire Cares’ Company of the Year

Hinckley & Rugby has been named the 2015 Company of the Year by the business volunteering charity Leicestershire Cares.

The Society’s Carla Loughrey was also a finalist in the Volunteer of the Year category of the annual awards, in which Leicestershire Cares celebrates the many ways in which employers and their staff help those in need in the county.

Hinckley & Rugby participates in several Cares projects, including several staff members spending an hour each week at Manorfield Primary School in Stoney Stanton, where they work one-to-one with children to boost their numeracy skills.

The Society’s staff is also heavily involved in Cares’ annual Collect 4 Christmas appeal, which last November and December saw Hinckley & Rugby branches and head office collect countless gifts for children who may not otherwise have received one.

And last Autumn the Society played a leading role in Cares’ Coat Drive, which saw winter coats donated through Hinckley & Rugby branches en route to keeping men, women and children warm through the winter.

Carla Loughrey, assistant marketing and PR manager at Hinckley & Rugby, said: “Being part of Leicestershire Cares means a lot to our staff. It’s a real privilege to get the opportunity to be involved with all the great work Cares organises in the local community and to work alongside its fantastic team of staff.

“You really can see the difference it makes to the recipients and the volunteers alike and receiving this award is something we’re extremely proud of.”

Monica Stark, director of Leicestershire Cares, said: “Hinckley & Rugby has put so much into so many of our activities. Huge congratulations and many thanks to the Society and its staff.”
