One of Hinckley & Rugby’s staff members has been hitting the streets for the past month, in a bid to raise as much money as possible for a very worthy charity – Cancer Research UK.
Lewis, who works in the Society’s branch network, informed colleagues about his challenge to run 100 miles before the middle of April and has since completed the challenge, running 118.32 miles in just 39 days. He has raised an amazing £705 (+£140 Gift Aid) for the charity, which the runner says “will help fund life-saving research and bring forward the day when all cancers are cured.”
In Lewis’s own words:
“What started as an uphill battle slowly became something I have found myself looking forward to doing daily. The overwhelming support I have received has been like an extra pair of lungs keeping me going that extra mile. Any donation is greatly appreciated no matter the size as it all contributes to a great cause. I am not much of a runner, but I am pushing myself for the sake of Cancer Research and the loved ones it has affected.”
The Society is very proud of Lewis who has been able to support Cancer Research UK, and the vital research it does, through the challenge.
