Sharing life skills with local young people
A commitment to sharing skills and knowledge has seen Society volunteers help young adults develop practical life skills, including budgeting and money management.
Whether it’s partnering with local education providers to run through the essential process of opening a bank account, or working alongside local charity Leicestershire Cares to deliver interactive sessions for groups of vulnerable young adults, the Society is passionate about passing on practical guidance on everyday money matters that may not feature in traditional education. These sessions help strengthen financial knowledge, encourage positive habits, and build the confidence needed to support independent living.
By working closely with local organisations, the Society helps ensure its time and expertise are focused where they can make the greatest difference, often supporting young people who may face additional challenges or lack the support networks that can make navigating everyday financial decisions easier.
Supporting members in local branches
Online forms and chatbots aren’t suitable for every situation. Sometimes, a face-to-face conversation with someone who can take the time to understand your circumstances is exactly what’s needed.
That’s why our branches continue to play such an important role in supporting members to make informed financial decisions. Whether it’s explaining our products and services, answering questions, or completing a free Savings Review to help ensure your savings are working as hard as possible, our friendly teams are on hand to provide personal support when it matters most.
UK Savings Week
UK Savings Week takes place each September to raise awareness of the benefits of saving, while encouraging everyone to save if they can, regardless of their circumstances or financial goals.
A range of tips, tools and useful information are available, including links to impartial advice and resources designed to help people manage their money and improve their financial knowledge.
The campaign is led by the Building Societies Association and supported by building societies, including Hinckley & Rugby, as well as credit unions and other financial organisations across the UK.
Stay up to date about fraud awareness
We strive to ensure that our member’s information is kept safe and secure through up-to-date computer systems and continual monitoring.
With online scams increasing year on year, it is key to be able to recognise and prevent fraud, by being vigilant when receiving requests from third parties.
