Mutuality
At Hinckley & Rugby, our members aren’t customers of the business – they are the business.
That’s been true for more than 150 years and continues to shape how we operate today.
Because we’re owned by our members rather than shareholders, we can focus on long-term value rather than short-term returns. That means offering products that meet today’s real-life needs, building meaningful relationships through personal service, and making decisions that benefit our members and the communities they call home.

Local, friendly staff
Our well-trained teams know our customers, they take the time to listen to their needs and goals and offer clear, jargon-free information to help them make informed decisions about their finances. This creates long-term trusting relationships that can extend generations.
No matter how our customers choose to deal with us, whether its face-to-face in our high-street branches, over the phone, or online, you get the same personal service, from real people, who care.
This stems from a deep-rooted culture of people development and wellbeing that runs through the organisation – because when our people are given the support and opportunities to thrive, they are best placed to support our customers too.
Supporting our local communities
Our local communities know who we are and what we stand for. We take the time to build relationships with the organisations and businesses that serve and matter to people in our local towns and villages.
We provide support in many ways, whether that’s sponsorship and financial support, sharing our skills and resources by volunteering our time, or through carefully designed products that make managing their hard-earned money easier.
We partner with local charity Leicestershire Cares to strengthen our connections within the community and ensure our people have the opportunity to make a positive contribution to the causes that have the greatest impact on the lives of local people.

Have your say as a member
As a mutual, our members all have equal voting rights at our Annual General Meeting and a say in how the Society is run. Membership rights are typically granted by opening a savings account or obtaining a mortgage.
We do not have shareholders like traditional banks and other large financial institutions. Instead, any profit is reinvested back into the business to improve the products and services offered to our members. Additionally, some of our members actively contribute to the organisation by participating in our Member Panel.
Working for Hinckley & Rugby
We pride ourselves on providing a family friendly culture across our nine branches and agencies across Leicestershire and Warwickshire and Principal office in Hinckley.
We understand the importance of promoting a healthy work life balance and are constantly reviewing and improving our current processes and rewards to remain an employer of choice.
