Here to help you save
As the cost-of-living crisis continues, with many feeling the effects of financial hardship, there are those who will find the prospect of saving difficult. For those who can afford to save, no matter what their budget, UK Savings Week is a great time to begin.
UK Savings Week takes place every September. Our aim is to raise awareness of the benefits of saving, and to encourage better saving habits.
Hinckley & Rugby Building Society is part of the consortium behind UK Savings Week, and has contributed towards creating a suite of advice, support and resources, for people to explore and use.
Our CEO Colin Fyfe sat down with Fosse 107’s Mark Foster about the importance of saving and how we can all make a start.
Data2 has also found that 14% of families have no savings, and this is higher for single parents (25% have no savings), and those living alone (without children – 21% for men, 18% for women).
Savings give you peace of mind when things go wrong and the means to help you achieve your personal goals.
What an individual wants to achieve looks different for everyone. Whether saving for your dream holiday, a new car, or funds in case of an emergency, saving – whether little and often or a bit more when you can – all adds up, and helps you reach your goals. It doesn’t matter what you’re saving for, or how much you put away, regular saving adds up and helps you get where you want to be.

“We all know savings are important, but it’s easy to let things slip, especially when the demands on our money increase. This week is a great reminder for us all to reassess what we’ve got, how we can make it easier to manage our money, and how we can achieve the rewards we deserve.”
Hinckley & Rugby Savings Manager, Melanie Aspden
