Show off your photography skills for Hinckley & Rugby’s Earth Day competition

The Society is once again getting ready to celebrate Earth Day – an environmental movement and day dedicated to the preservation of our beautiful planet.

The theme for this year’s Earth Day, held on Friday 22nd April, is ‘Invest in Our Planet’ and encourages everybody to ‘act (boldly), innovate (broadly), and implement (equitably)’ to preserve and protect our world for a prosperous future.

Aimee Williams, who is part of the Society’s Environmental Committee, said:

“We’re really pleased to continue our support of Earth Day. As a responsible business we feel strongly about doing our part for the environment and are passionate in encouraging our colleagues to do whatever they can, no matter how small, in the fight against climate change and the preservation of our natural world.”

In support of the day, the Society is running a photography competition, and inviting you to show off your camera skills for the chance to win a £50 Not on The High Street gift voucher. To enter, simply take a photo of the natural world around you – whether it be a garden, park, local woods, or a striking sunset etc. and post your snap on our competition post on its Facebook page

The competition has two categories – Adults (over 16) and children (under 16) – and will run between 11-22 April, with the winners being announced on 27 April. The photograph will need to be taken between 11-22 April and only one entry per person will be accepted. Click to see the full terms and conditions.

Keen to encourage its staff to make greener choices, the Society will also be sharing hints and tips with staff throughout the week, along with plenty of opportunities to get involved in various earth friendly activities, including a photography competition, a step challenge, some environmental related quizzes, a ‘Go Meat Free’ day, A DIY bug hotel making task and an Environmental Awareness survey.
