Acting as a nominee for a child
Adults over the age of 18 can open and operate an account on behalf of a child who is under the age of 18. If the child is over the age of 13, they can open and operate an account themselves.
When completing an application for a new account, the child’s details should be completed as the first named account holder, and anyone wishing to act as nominee should be added after. If you are acting as nominee for a child, you can continue to manage their account until you wish to transfer control to them, or they reach the age of 18.
If you wish to cease acting as a nominee and transfer the account to the control of a child/young saver who has reached the age of 13 or older, please contact us on 0800 434 6343 or pop into one of our branches or agencies, who will explain what you will need to do next.

What is a nominee?
A nominee is a person responsible for managing and operating an account on behalf of the account holder . The account holder remains the beneficiary with ownership rights.
