£10,000 donation for new equipment at Rugby hospital

The Society has made a major contribution to the provision of new equipment for Rugby’s Hospital of St Cross. A cheque for £10,000 was presented by the Society’s CEO, Colin Fyfe, at the recent 68^th Annual General Meeting of the Friends of St Cross.

The donation to the hospital by the Friends of St Cross, comprising equipment with a total value of £70,000, includes a new ultrasound machine – significantly increasing the capacity for scans at the hospital.

Presenting the cheque, Colin Fyfe said:

“The building society was formed in 1861 when its first branch was opened in Rugby, and the society has been serving the community in Rugby ever since. I am pleased that the Society has been able to make this donation for such an important development at the hospital, and look forward to developing a connection between the Building Society, the community and the Friends of St Cross, in the years to come.”

Accepting the donation, Willy Goldschmidt, President of the Friends of St Cross, said:

“We are always delighted to support the expansion of the services offered at the hospital. We can only do this thanks to the tremendous support we receive from the community in Rugby and in particular, on this occasion, from Hinckley & Rugby Building Society, which donated £10,000 towards the cost of this project.”

The meeting was attended by around sixty members and guests, including Rugby’s Mayor, Councillor Maggie O’Rourke.
