At a time when many homeowners are experiencing uncertainty and others will be thinking of taking advantage of the Chancellor’s recent announcements to stimulate the housing market, Hinckley & Rugby Building Society has enhanced resource to meet market demands. We have created dedicated teams and given staff the opportunity to take on specialist roles to ensure new and existing customers continue to be serviced to a high standard.
With the introduction of mortgage payment breaks during COVID-19, we have seen 10% of our customers benefit from the temporary pause in monthly payments. Our mortgage team has risen to the challenge of facilitating these payment breaks and supporting customers with their payment break exits – a project which is likely to continue into 2021.
We have broadened the responsibilities of some of our long-standing and experienced staff members, with a view of also hiring new starters to support the mortgage department. Our Head of Mortgages, Julie Chapman, has taken the lead on mortgage payment holidays.
Our Chief Executive, Colin Fyfe, says:
“This is a fantastic story about how growth can happen within our business. There are some very talented people in our organisation who have an opportunity to grow their career.”
Further changes include Carolyn Thornley-Yates now taking the role of Head of Mortgage Acquisition and Proposition. This is an additional responsibility which sees Carolyn managing this area, whilst also continuing to cover the remit of her previous title of Head of Sales and Marketing.
Sarah Johnson has been appointed Head of Underwriting, following on from her role as Senior Underwriting Manager. This change places underwriting at the executive table and makes sure the underwriting team gets the support to progress positively.
As part of our dedication to efficiently managing mortgages within the business, we have created five new teams as follows:
- New lending
- Existing lending
- Mortgage support
- Mortgage training and competency
Six individuals who have demonstrated exceptional skills paired with industry experience have been chosen to lead these teams. Their updated job titles are as follows:
New Lending Senior Manager – Evan Crosskey
New Lending Manager – Anne Marie Thompson
Existing Lending Manager – Jaime Taylor
Mortgage Support Manager – Rebecca Rowan
Mortgage Training & Competency Manager – Niki Butterworth
Underwriting Manager – Michelle Higginson
To further bolster this area of the Society, we are creating the roles of Assistant Underwriter and Business Development Team Leader which we will be recruiting for shortly.
We look forward to seeing these individuals develop in their roles, leading the business further forward and continuing to support new and existing customers through difficult times and the current mortgage market.
